Redefining the Landscape of American Photography

Robert Burrill’s mission, “Making important films on photography,” is epitomized in his current documentary offering, “John Wimberley, American Master,” where we are taken on an intimate journey of Wimberley’s artistic photographic career.

Wimberley’s quiet narrative, articulate and eloquent, belies an underlying passion that is shepherded with spiritual disciplines and executed with precision, manifesting in stunning, inspiring photography that opens the viewer to thresholds of otherwise hidden worlds.

John Wimberley re-connected with Robert Burrill in Ashland, OR in 2007, and in 2012 their collaboration led to an expanded film project resulting in a 60-minute autobiographic documentary.

Wimberley’s images have been published worldwide. Stone With Light Publishing in Ashland, OR released his books, a metaphysic of Light and Evidence of Magic, in 2011.

John Wimberley is a mystic on a spiritual path who experiences all objects as a conscious form of expression of the Spirit. His evocative images are evidence of magic. Filmmaker, Robert Burrill, with lyricism and grace, has uncloaked a photographer of the highest order, a teacher, and an American master.

The Harvey Milk Photo Center, 50 Scott Street, San Francisco, CA, will host the world premiere of the film on January 25, 2014, 1-5pm, accompanied by a John Wimberley photographic exhibition.
